Once you arrive in car-free Montepulciano, a local guide will show you authentic wine cellars, elegant squares and streets used in the Netflix show – Medici: Masters of Florence.
Feel the peace and serenity of St. Biagio's Church
Your coach will take you to S. Biagio, the picturesque temple that rests below the town, right at the point where the Val D’Orcia fades into the Val di Chiana, in the middle of the Tuscan hills. The classic-styled church, with its travertine façade that shines in the sun light, is a 16th-century Renaissance masterpiece with exquisite decorations inside.
Traditional Tuscan lunch
Close to the church is the vineyard where you will lunch on local produce. Your 3-course lunch will be paired with a wine tasting of the legendary Brunello di Montalcino wine, one of the first wines to receive DOCG designation.
Discover Pienza – the Renaissance city
You can buy wine from the farmhouse or from one of the artisan shops in Pienza where you have more free time. This UNESCO World Heritage village was rebuilt in the 15th century by Pope Pius as an antidote to Rome. It acted as the inspiration for the harmonious planning of the Renaissance ever after. Pienza is also home to one of the oldest known cheeses in the world – Pecorino di Pienza, which is impossible to replicate anywhere else. Whether it is food, wine, architecture or sublime views over the unrolling blanket of farmland, Pienza is the ideal contrast to Rome.
