Book this combination of our best-selling Colosseum plus Best of Rome tours and save on the cost of booking them separately! It's the best way to see Rome in a day!
Our full-day Rome walking tour is perfect for visitors who only have a short time in Rome and want to see the very best of the city – past and present. Explore the history of the Roman Empire on a Colosseum tour before racing back to the future on an adventure through its picturesque streets and piazzas, experiencing Rome as it is today on our popular Best of Rome Walking Tour.
We’ll kick-start our day with a skip the line Colosseum tour, bypassing long queues to gain access to this magnificent structure. Follow your English-speaking guide as they lead you to the best vantage points inside the Colosseum, telling you the stories and pointing out the details that bring this magnificent arena to life.
Our tour through Ancient Rome continues on to the Forum, once the heart of the Empire's political power, where Romans from all walks of life participated in the incredible exploits that made the civilization so remarkable, and then on to the Palatine Hill – the spot where it all started. Legend has it that this is where Remus and Romulus were raised by their wolf mother and where Romulus decided to found his city. It’s also home to the city’s oldest ruins and best views.
Next we’ll take a well-deserved break for lunch in the historic centerof the city. Your guide will recommend a spot or you can follow your nose to one of the countless trattorias and pizzerias around the area. Soak up the atmosphere before the next leg of our tour, a journey through the best of modern Rome.
After the pause we’ll wander the streets of Rome, seeing the most famous sights – from the Spanish Steps to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and splendid Piazza Navona. Again your guide will bring the myriad sights from across the centuries to life with the stories and myths that make Rome unlike any other city in the world. Want to know why Raphael died so young? Or why there is one spot by the Trevi Fountain from where your view is completely obscured? Listen to your guide as they lead you on a trek that takes in the length and breadth of Rome’s historic center.
On this tour, some of the venues or parts of the venue may be subject to last-minute, unpredictable closures. When this occurs, we are happy to offer customers an extended tour in keeping with the advertised total length of the tour. Due to increased security measures at many attractions some lines may form on tours with 'Skip the Line' access.
If you wish to explore the Colosseum on your own after your tour, you should take our Express Colosseum Tour with Gladiator's Entrance and Special Arena Floor Access (with or without Breakfast). This gives you a guided tour of the Colosseum only. After the tour you can choose to either enjoy the skip-the-line entrance tickets to the Roman Forum (our guide would accompany you to enter but the visit is not guided) or stay inside the Colosseum without the guide.
For any other tour however, our tours follow a pattern of visit and you would not be able re-enter the Colosseum without waiting in the line and purchasing an additional ticket.
Due to the uneven grounds and stairs on the itinerary at the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, we are unable to accommodate customers with walking difficulties.
